In 2020, under the Basic Structure of the Horoscope Natal Wheel – Birth Chart (Part I), Core Aspects, we looked at The Horizon Line, Midheaven Point and Hemispheres. Under Part II, we then moved on to discuss the Twelve Houses Aspects.
Commencing this week, I will be running a series of short bi-weekly articles on the individual Planets, focusing on what they denote – the fundamental underlying interpretation tone they exemplify.
Astrology's strong point is its ability to uncover areas where cosmic energies support a myriad of possibilities. Keeping this in mind, to continue, we now centre our discussion around the Planet Aspects and their specific influences (what they represent).

THE PLANET ASPECTS
Planets show WHAT
The Planets represent fundamental urges and principles. An example would be Mercury, which is the urge to communicate.
In the Astrology Natal Wheel (Birth Chart), the Planets deal with energies and basic human urges. Their positions in the houses imply what sort of relationships or occupations we'll have. But, usually, they reveal where we will focus most of our energy. However, this barely touches the surface of Astrology planet interpretation in the houses. To understand the influence a planet has within a house, the Astrology Natal Wheel (Birth Chart) analysis looks at the number of planets in a house and their proximity to other planets and other considerations. For example, the lack of planet positioning in a house (no planets).
THE SUN
Introduction - the fundamental underlying interpretation
Intuitively rules the Star (Zodiac) Sign Leo
Leo – the vibrant, dynamic fire sign that exudes both bravery and dramatically
Being the most powerful of all the planetary figures at play in Astrology, we begin our journey through the planets with a Sun's close up (sometimes referred to as ‘Sol.’)
The core self through which we find expression in the world
When someone asks,” what is your star sign?” they ask, “what’s your Sun Sign?”

Significant Features (Fundamental Essence)
Our creative life force and will to live - The centre of our universe, the Sun in astrology, is what lights up and gives colour to the world around us; it's the star that we revolve around and that gives us life. Akin to the planets revolving around the Sun in our solar system, we drive our life purpose from (around) the Sun in our Astrology Natal Wheel (Birth Chart).
It symbolises our conscious plane (the present – here and now), the “adult” side, the part of us that censors our “inner child,” reasons, and makes final decisions. Further, it reveals our individuality. It is the most important single consideration in discovering our identity, who we are - the innermost self.
In our Astrological chart, we have many influences, but the Sun is the most integral to our persona and spirit.
The Sun influences the personality so strongly that an amazingly accurate picture of us can be given by looking at the power it was exercising over us when born and understanding the predictable powers of the specific astrological sign it falls within.

Personal growth, wherever the Sun’s placement in the chart, is an area of life where we meet a significant life challenge.
The Sun Sign traits show us how to best deal with the challenges represented by its house placement. Once successfully dealt with, we feel a sense of completeness or life satisfaction. We cannot ignore the Sun’s brightness, the area of life that it shines on; it decrees and will not be dimmed or pushed away, no matter how trying it may be.
Further, the Sun in our Astrology Natal Wheel (Birth Chart) chart often provides us with clues about our father's issues. Often these issues and how he dealt with them influenced us
Also, it exemplifies the will of the individual. Too often, we may lose touch with our will because of societal pressures and the influence of our upbringing. When this happens, our life path can become de-railed, and we may lack a strong sense of direction or life satisfaction. Children often come into the world with a strong sense of will, so the Sun also represents children. It reminds and pushes us to get back in touch with our inner child, and learning how to honor that small voice inside us can truly bring profound changes to our lives.
A final point about this vibrant celestial body, mainly as it concerns the next planet we will visit, is it represents traits that we have to come to integrate or blend with those of our Moon Sign. The Moon is the past, and so manifests the Sun sign traits which move us forward.
In bringing the Sun to a close, I leave you with this beautiful and apt description:
The innermost flame that burns within each of us provides a cosmic link to our true spiritual nature.
