Choosing A Crystal
It is also wise not to buy a crystal from a source that does not let us touch it first. As this not possible when buying a crystal through an internet site, it is vital to browse through the various pictures of the crystals first, with care, and be patient until we find the one that chooses us and or noting which appeals to us the most and then make our decision. Under these circumstances, it is also essential to make sure we can return the crystal if upon its arrival if it doesn’t feel right and or appropriate.
Crystals come in a vast and assorted array of shapes and sizes, and many go by the names given to denote their purpose. Keeping this topic as simple as possible, I have kept the list below brief, naming seven of the more common shapes found in most shops today.
The information provided below is a shortlist only of the numerous kinds of shapes available. For a more specific purpose, I recommend sourcing a reputable crystal expert (as today there are unfortunately many different accounts-descriptions) and or consulting a specialist book, one of authority that goes further into this area.
Balls: These are usually shaped from a larger crystal and equally emit energy from all directions. They are renowned for moving energy throughout time and used in the ‘practice’ known as “scrying.”
Chunks: Chunks are crystals without notable facets. They are suitable for enriching a room's atmosphere, for meditation or for carrying in your pocket.
Clusters: Clusters consist of a group of small crystals that have naturally grown, joined together. Clusters can be excellent for enriching a living environment or workplace. Depending upon their properties, they can cleanse, invigorate or calm an atmosphere.
Cut crystals: Cut crystals are crystals that have been cut and polished into shapes such as pyramids, wands or spheres, making them very attractive. If they are well-cut, the energy of the stone can be maintained and sometimes amplified.

Geods: The Geode cave-like shape is somewhat round, and the Geode is within the outer form. When opened, it is hollow, with many of its crystals pointing inward. They are useful for protection and spiritual growth. Also, they assist in breaking addictions or overindulgence.
Pointed Crystals (Wands): Many crystals have points that can either be natural or artificial and or single-pointed (one end ragged) or doubled pointed. The application of single-pointed crystals is often for healing purposes.
Tumblestones: Tumblestones are small stones, rocks or crystals that have been tumbled over each other many times until the sides become smooth and shiny. Many people like to carry a tumblestone crystal around in their pocket to keep the stone's energy with them throughout the day.

Crystal Protocol - Personalising
Cleansing and Programing
Crystals can remember negative as well as positive energies.
Whether we buy a crystal or receive it as a gift, we need to attune more strongly with its energy and avoid the transference of negative vibrations, so it is essential to take the time to cleanse it.
Don’t over-complicate it, which can be as simple as we make it. There is no right way or wrong way. It is whatever works for and resonates with us.
However, here are some simple guidelines for personalising our crystal and creating a new energy bond between our new gemstone partner and us.
Cleansing
To cleanse a crystal, hold the crystal under warm running water as the water pours over it; with closed eyes, imagine all the negative energies being washed away, out into the vast ocean to be purified by the cycles of life.
We can also leave our new lovely companion in the warm sun and allow the power of its light to purify the crystal with “fire.”
Programing

To program a crystal, we hold it in our hand, eyes closed, and imagine, create an image of what we want our crystal to help us create.
Depending on our crystal or purpose's size, we need to either keep it close to our skin or, if we cannot wear it, store it in a special box or bag, place it in a room we treasure most and visit it frequently.
There is little doubt that crystals bring joy into our lives and help to enhance our well-being.
